Simpler yet more complicated download page…

I tweaked around the download page a bit. The old one was kinda annoying, I noticed that yesterday when I downloaded one of my own scans....

Instead of having to click on a download button to start the download, it start automatically after a few seconds. by itself, no intervention needed! Even a nifty count down included!

The only problem is that it's driven by javascript. Now for most people this won't a problem but it might be if you disabled javascript obviously....

Another... consequence of using this new script method is that some browsers seem to think that the download page is trying to spawn a popup when the download starts. Actually its just some server side scripts running to check if you are a "human" downloader and incrementing download counters. I'll spare you the technicalities since I'm not sure why it happens myself.

So basically if you want to download, you have to enable popups. which was pretty much what we've been asking for all along. Our releases are enjoyable, without a doubt. So it's a fair exchange: 1 popup for 1 download.

well actually I'll probably try and fix that other time. And probably un-beta the online viewer in the same pass. But if it can't be fixed, it can't be fixed.

Golden Week in Japan and Viewing stuff

Kinda funny that I remember this only now, but it's Golden Week in Japan. The holiday means most people aren't working in Japan. Most people include mangakas. This means no manga this week.

Most scanlation teams would use this break to catch up on late chapters but here, at the NBST, we don't.

We're still on semi operational status and I've have exams coming up so Golden Week won't be used for scans.

on the other hand, I've written an online chapter viewer. It works for all chapters currently available.
I should update all posts and their download links gradually to include a link to the online viewer.

try this one:

http://www.nbnakama.com/view/op454 From the last scan we made.

I figured many read the scans from their work place or don't want to bother extracting the files.
It's still a beta version meaning that there could be a bug or two in there. But it should work good enough.

Still nothing…

Well might as keep the place busy to avoid it being overrun by spam bots.

From the last OP chapter i tried to work on but will never finish....

Nothing new concerning the situation of the NBST. We're still... where ever that is we are....
I've been thinking(I do that a lot), that since i don't have enough time right now to work on all scanlation projects, I might as well concentrate on the easiest of them. i.e. Naruto. For once, Mashashi's simpler drawing style is of some use. I might update with a Naruto release so watch this space.

On the darker side(or brighter depending on your alignment), NBForums.net is up. Ain't that cool? Co-administered by No OnE, Krusnix and myself.

Go over there and before you even consider registering, READ THE FUCKIN' RULES. I put them on the registration from for that very purpose.
I can't believe the number of newbs that come on our forums just to affirm their moronic existence.

Also if you want your weekly manga fix, head to mangahelpers. The've been quite active and have revamped their interface quite a bit. A bit too narrow if you ask me...

The Long Night….

Seems we'll be out of the scanlation scene for a little longer than expected. Yeah. I know. Old news.

Currently, I'm trying to finish college... with limited success... and frankly, i don't see myself editing a raw page of manga before the end of march.

I'll try to rough up the rest of the crew from time to time so there might be an odd release now and then...

to show that NBST will never just roll over and die...

Less Naruto More One Piece Plz.

Or so I was passively campaigning with my signature as staging area back on the mangahelpers forums.  Over the past weeks at MH, there has been a decline in interest in the translation of the weekly manga.  And the  few OP translations available were mostly external to MH and were often denied permission for use in scanlations. However, this may soon change. Although I may not have much to do with it, several translators have decided to put some effort in reviving interest in the Great Series that is One Piece.

Anyways:
»Linkage to the One Piece translation forum«
»Linkage to chapter 440 Raw/Translation/Scanlation thread«

Participating in the effort to translate OP are WinterLion, njt, and skywalker. wow 2 admins and a Jedi. Hopefully we'll be able to get a couple of top notch translation each week for the scanlators. I'll even try to do chapter 440 this week. so hopefully, there will be a NBST release despite the status quo.
